We are surrounded by information technology. We couldn't get away from it even if we tried. James Graves(1990) suggests that "technology has shaped human society". We use some form of technology everyday whether it be listening to your i pod or emailing a friend. Technology has had such an effect on our world. Many jobs have been dissolved because technology has replaced them but on the the other hand technology has also created different job opportunities.
We all have differing levels of competency while using information technology. Some know information tech like the back of their hand but others get lost at every turn. For me, using information technology is a bit of a love\hate relationship. I feel the most comfortable using Windows computer but put me on a mac and I'm lost and frustrated.
There are things to consider when using information technology e.g. there are ethical issues, safety issues when transferring information via email or mobile phones. We need to consider whether using IT devices is safe, private and appropriate to the context we are working in.
